“A FOREFRONT AGAINST DOWRY AND OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO MARRIAGE”

Marriage ceremonies in various religions have proven to be very costly, and the parents of girls are forced to fall into debt traps to get their daughters married.

The Sarva Dharma Samuhik Vivah Scheme was initiated by the Suryoday Trust to wipe out dowry related issues and to get the daughters of the poor and needy people from all religious backgrounds in our society married. The Suryoday Trust takes only Rs. 1.25 from the parents of the girls and get their daughters married with all rites and rituals according to the different religious customs and traditions of the couple. Sri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj graces the occasion and does the “Kanyadan“ of the girls. The Kanyadan is the ritual when a father or a brother in the hindu rites gives a way the daughter or sister to her husband.
Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust has organized programmes of mass marriages in which 3.391 daughters from poor families have been solemnized till year 2009. The marriages are performed every year on the occasion of Shri Bhaiyyu Dada’s birthday. Shri Bhaiyyu Dada encourages his followers to save the expenses that could be employed for the celebration of his birthday to spend them on the community mass marriages and other humanitarian projects.

The criterion of selection of marriageable boys and girls is done according to the Government norms. They have to submit an application form with an income certificate of their parents, birth certificate or age certifying document with their guardian’s permission and other necessary documents in duplicate. One copy has to be submitted to the Trust office and the other to the government’s office.

Shri Bhaiyyu Dada with the co-operation of his disciples and the public presents the couples with various household items like utensils for the kitchen, clothes, a Mangalsutra (jewel given to hindu girls as a symbol of marriage) These articles are collected from various parts of the society so that it should become a community marriage ceremony. It is a great achievement for the Trust that by the resolution taken by Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj, thousands of citizens have resolved to get their daughters married under this programme thus avoiding the extravagant expenditure involved in individual marriages. This programme has also resulted in reducing the number of suicide cases of farmers. After the great success achieved by the Trust the government of Maharashtra has adopted this scheme in the vidharbha package for farmers.

SURYODAY PRISONERS REHABILITATION YOJNA
“A DREAM OF FREE THOUGHT WILL COME TRUE”

No person can live without emotions. Removing the thought of committing crimes from the prisoners' minds and turning their negative thinking into positive thinking is the main requirement of today’s time.

One part of our society is imprisoned in Jail. When these prisoners come out, they face a problem of social acceptability and identity. If the prisoner doesn’t find self-esteem in the society, he will prefer to return back to prison and ultimately the society suffers a great loss. Suryoday Trust has launched this Prisoners Rehabilitation Yojna in order to stop this trend and to bring this part of the society into the main stream.
The Prisoner’s families are neglected by the society. Why should they pay for the consequences when they were not with their partners when the crime was committed? They have the right to live in the same manner in which our family and children are living. This same thinking has to be applied, therefore our objective is to rehabilitate the prisoners who have been relieved from life-time imprisonment so that they do not move in the direction of committing crime again and can be accepted by the society.

These people behind the bars also belong to that part of the society, which is closed under the fortified walls waiting for a decent life.

The beneficiaries of this project are selected according to the following criteria. Their behavior should be based on good morality. There should not be any in-disciplinary action taken against them. This scheme was started in the year 2007 in the Vidharbha region of the Maharashtra state, where 5 prisoners were selected and released accordingly. After their rehabilitation they were provided with jobs of their choice on 29th june 2007 at Aurangabad. They were provided with wood cutting tools, cycle rickshaws, goats, and sewing machines.

SURYODAY GRAM MODEL VILLAGE 2040 YOJNA
“EFFORTS TO PORTRAY THE TRUE IMAGE OF INDIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY”

If the financial structure of any country is to be made strong, the farmers of that country have to be exposed to high-level techniques of agriculture. In the present day condition, the farmers and their families are deprived of even the basic necessities for living as well as education, health facilities, electricity; which leaves them far behind the society. India has been an agriculture-based country, and its farmers have always been poor, they are caught in the vicious circle of traditional ties and superstitions due to ignorance, which is retarding their progress. Life in the village is very harsh, there are no amenities whereas cities have modern facilities resulting attractive to the youth who try to shift to the urban areas.

The Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust has started the Suryoday Gram Samridhi Yojana in the form of “Model Village 2040” with the objective of developing backward villages into model villages involving these villages in the process of development.

This scheme has developed a model village wherein computer training centres, energy parks, balgrams (educational residential schools) and setting up of libraries are established. Windmills, solar energy and biogas fuels are used to generate electricity and provide 24 hours power to the villages.

This scheme has also started water recycling plants, vaccinating pets and making fertilizers from waste. With the implementation of these projects, we will be able to educate farmers’ children and turn them into ideal farmers. Experts will provide training to the farmers regarding modern methods of agriculture and bio-agriculture. Farmers will be encouraged learn soil and water testing techniques.

The Suryoday Gram Smridhi Yojana 2040 has started in Buldhana District at Mahimal, Shirasgaon, Jalkateli, Gardgaon, and Antraj villages. In Washim District at Dhanora Tathod, Parditakmore, Kata, Sohol. In Akola district at Kapileshwar, Raundhala and Eklara. The Suryoday Trust has adopted 3 districts and 13 such villages under this scheme of Gram Model Village 2040.

A conceptual model village 2040 designed by P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj is where the villagers act as decision makers, partners, and beneficiaries of multi-faceted, multifunctional and integrated development in the field of energy, finance and infra-structure. A model village is also a modern secular, democratic system empowered with prosperous and harmonious life suffused with human values and sublimated with spiritual inspiration. A Model Village will also have a self-propelling model of ensuring growth with equality and social justice within the participatory framework, and will play a vital role and transform all the present form of villages into self-dependent and supporting units, which ultimately increases the overall development of the country.

SURYODAY TANKER FREE VILLAGES YOJNA

Farmers in India are dependent on infrequent rainfall to maintain their fields, livestock, and their existence. During the dry season, drinking water is so scarce that supplies are trucked into villages through tankers.

In recent years, development initiatives have focused on village-led watershed management activities by rainwater collection and percolation to the village well for drinking purposes and other uses also. With decreasing water tables, water has become a scarce resource, adding to this plight and droughts, which have affected agriculture and human existences. The solution to water scarcity lies in its judicious use.
A bad monsoon would mean a poor season for the farmer and the never-ending cycle of indebtedness.

Shri P.P. Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj has taken initiatives to save this natural and life sustaining resource, which is fast becoming scarce.

He calls for all to end wasteful usage of water and has urged all to use it judiciously. He has successfully mobilized villagers into a self-sustaining progressive unit by taking various measures in resolving water crisis to make tanker free villages.

Initiatives such as watershed management programmes, rainwater harvesting, and percolation for improving the ground water table have also been considered. 150 Villages in Buldhana District have been selected for the project implementation. 10 tanks have been constructed in 10 different places while around 140 tanks are to be constructed in other villages soon.

SURYODAY ANTI POVERTY MISSION

Poverty is one of the biggest problems plaguing India, it is widespread and piecemeal efforts to eliminate poverty have not worked so far. Eradicating poverty would mean taking a big step towards the betterment of the country, and the best way to eliminate the demon of poverty from the society will be launching an all out attack by making substantial efforts to weed out poverty from its very roots.

In the last 50 years the Indian government started schemes and programmes to develop India as an Economical power in the world. The results were: 80% of the Population of India is being defaulter under the unproductive loans.
Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj has launched such an all encompassing mission to eradicate poverty from all parts of India. This huge movement has been named the “Anti Poverty mission”. The Anti Poverty Mission is designed to root out poverty from rural areas where Gurudev Ji has devised some very novel strategies, considering each aspect of the rural society. The Anti Poverty Mission will revitalize entire communities and start self-sufficient industries, which involve entire communities much on the lines of cooperative movements. Community development and family development initiatives have also been mooted to eradicate poverty. Development in the existing economic scenarios and human resources are also being proposed. Development and technological advancement will be made in agricultural methods. Villagers will be taught water conservation techniques. Health care and cottage industries will be revamped and given a boost.

The villages, which have been identified in the Anti Poverty Mission, are Mahimal, Jadkateli, Garadgaon, Antaraj, Shirajgaon, Sajjanpuri in Buldhana district and Warangaon in Jalgaon district. There are many more villages where surveys are in progress for evaluating their efficiency and utility for participation in the Anti Poverty Mission.

SURYODAY ANNAKSHETRA YOJNA
DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD TO THE POOR

Charity is at the core of all religious traditions. Likewise, Indian traditions consider the distribution of free food (Annadhan), among the highest of all charitable acts. Due to poverty many people are forced to sleep without having any meals, it is important that every one should have his food every day.

In keeping with the tradition of Annadhan, which is considered as a service to God, free meals are distributed to the poor and needy in all the Ashrams run by the Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust.
Free food is freely given to nearly 500 poor people daily at Indore Ashram; similar programmes are also executed at the Ashrams in Pandharpur, Khamgaon, Aurangabad, Baramati, Phaltan, Tuljapur, and Alandi, where daily 5000 people are provided with free meals. The Ashram, which is under construction at Shirdi, will also start this service in keeping with the tradition. The food is collected from the factories MIDC near Aurangabad.

SURYODAY SWAROJGAR YOJNA

The youth generation is the future of the nation and by identifying this vital characteristic Shri Bhaiyyu Dada has started the “Suryoday Swarojgar Yojna” to work with the youth who ultimately will favor the country.

This self-employment scheme endeavors to give basic and practical training to unemployed youth and teaches trades like making garments, shopping bags, incense sticks and many other useful products.
