SURYODAY PARDHI SAMAJ ADIVASI ASHRAMSHALA

India being a vast country is home to different kinds of people who belong to different castes and tribes. India has quite a sizeable tribal population and most of these tribes live in inaccessible areas and in highly remote locations. For a country to progress it is essential that all the people who live in the country should make progress and should be properly educated.

Param Pujya Shri Bhaiyyu Dada feels that education of the masses is an absolute necessity and that the various tribal communities that live in remote areas should also be provided with proper education.
He has initiated a lot of ventures and development missions with a particular tribal community and many more such developmental initiatives are planned for the coming future. The tribal community in question is the Pardhi community and it has been noted that almost 95 percent of the Pardhi population is engaged in criminal activities. In order to change this community and help it progress, the Suryoday Trust has initiated a number of varied educational Programmes which would help this community shed their criminal habits and integrate them in the mainstream society. The Trust  is also engaged in providing these children and youth from this community a proper and gainful source of employment in order to deter them from indulging in criminal activities.  A residential school was established in the year 2008 at Khamgaon district in Maharashtra.

SURYODAY SAMVIDHAN JAGRAN ABHIJAN
“A NEW EXPERIMENT OF GENERATING AWARENESS OF NATIONAL FEELINGS”

It is necessary for every person to learn and study the holy book of his religion. In the same way, an ideal citizen of any nation needs to know about the national holy book, which is its Constitution. Only then, he will be able to justify his citizenship.

India is a large democratic country and the principles and spirit that govern the country are enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Our rights and duties are defined but very few are aware of them.
The Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust launched the Sanvidhan Jagran scheme on 23rd January year 2002 in presence of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Honorable Dr. Bhai Mahavir. The purpose of the same was to provide a copy of the Indian Constitution in a very simple language format to reach the general public. 475.000 Hindi and Marathi books were distributed to students providing a summarized knowledge about the constitution.

When this constitutional awareness programme was started, the Suryoday Trust used to distribute brief information of the fundamental rights and information about our Indian Constitution to the school children every year on the 26th of January.

In the Year 2006 this scheme was implemented by the “Yatra” voyage throughout the Maharashtra state. Programmes were arranged in schools and children were informed about the constitution of India. This Yatra covered around 6.000 km of distance. It started from Mhow in Madhya Pradesh (Holy birth place of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar) and went through various villages and cities.

“The Constitution should be recognized as our national holy book” was the call of P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj. It was widely accepted and appreciated by students by taking part in debates, discussions and essay competition organized in various schools and colleges. There was an overwhelming participation of villagers in rural areas. The last destination of this Yatra was the city of Mumbai where Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj humbly expressed his desire that a “preamble” of the constitution should be published in textbooks for students. The Deputy C.M. of Maharashtra Hon. R.R. Patil who was present during the event accepted, his petition.

In the year 2008 this awareness programme was organized by arranging general knowledge examinations on the constitution through various schools. Students were given books by the trust. 76.599 students from 41 cities participated in these exams. Up till now 825.000 copies of the constitution have been distributed in different states.

SURYODAY COMPUTER CENTRES & RELIGIOUS LIBRARIES IN PRISONS
“AWARD FOR SERVING HUMANITY”

When a person commits a crime he is mentally and spiritually degenerated. Prisoners and offenders serving jail sentences often need mental and spiritual nurturing, to turn them away from crime. They need a social support system, whereby they feel useful and confident to begin life afresh.

The prisoners interned in jails are already facing punishment for the offences committed by them. It is in the interest of the society that they are able to live comfortably in society as good citizens, after they are freed from jails so that they don’t fall back into the past tracks.
The objective of P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj is to reform, regenerate and ultimately rehabilitate individuals by educating them with the essence of laws and principles of religion. The trust has therefore undertaken a programme to make the prisoners cultured and educated.

To provide a chance for self-improvement to the convicted serving sentences in prisons, P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj has started 16 computer training Centres and religious libraries in the Yerawada Prison in Pune, and prisons at Buldhana, Dewas and Indore, to reform and rehabilitate prisoners and enable the convicts to receive training based on latest technology.

In order to raise the religious literacy rate and generate nationalism, libraries of books on religious aspects and on freedom struggle have also been set.

For this project the Suryoday Trust collects books of different religions from different branches of its trust. Social workers go from door to door and explain the vision of Rev Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj behind this scheme. People donate old religious books for this holy cause. These collected books are sent to the prison libraries.

As a result of this scheme several prisoners after coming out of prison have realized the truth of life and started self-employment and have taken a pledge for not committing any crime again.

"SURYODAY HIGHER EDUCATION SCHEME"

The past decade has brought about a sea of changes in the syllabus and curriculum of most education boards. Technology driven education and computer literacy are the most important components in education curricula. Student’s success in competitive examinations depends largely on good education and preparedness.

P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj realized the need to provide better facilities to the lesser privileged students and to give them confidence to face competitive examinations.
In particular, he is concerned about the following competitive exams: Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for IAS, IFS, IRS, IPS, Stat Services Commission, IIT, Medical, Engineering, Agriculture, Banks, National Defense Academy, Railways, Insurance and Management. He has set up ten computer institutes under the Suryoday Uchcha Shiksha Abhijan.

It is essential to impart higher education to all the students of the country. Since the cost of higher education is rising day by day, many poor students are unable to complete their further studies. The Trust, under this programme, identifies talented but poor students who could not complete their education due to poverty and provides them information on computers, Internet, online conferencing and information of competitive exam etc. free of cost. Aspiring needy students are provided with notes, CDs, books, and career guidance for the competitive examination under the scheme.

Till now study material is being provided for 10 computer centres in different areas. We have plans to provide study material for 29 more centres in the near future.

SURYODAY STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
“A DREAM TO EDUCATE CHILDREN”

The development of a nation depends on the rate of literacy of that country. Unfortunately India is yet to attain a remarkable growth in terms of literacy, while 55% of the Indian population is formed by the youth, 50% of it is considered to be illiterate.

The Government of India has implemented various schemes to impart education to various sectors of the society, yet a lot has still to be done in the educational field.
Children are the future of our nation; we need to secure their future so that they can take our country towards development. Today, we see so many people attending private education in internationally reputed schools and colleges while others are still deprived of basic education. There are various communities and backward classes, tribes which are also deprived of education due to factors like ignorance, poverty etc.

There are many reasons why our children even after having the ability of learning are still behind, due to lack of education. In order to provide an opportunity to each child Sri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust has started the Suryoday Scholarship Scheme under the guidance of Param Pujniya Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj.

This Scheme is meant to help the talented students who are deprived of education due to lack of money and resources. Under this scheme, students are provided with books, notebooks, school bags, and school uniforms free of cost.

This Campaign was started in the year 2000. Till now 328.220 students have been benefited under this scheme. One new chapter was added to this scheme where the children of prisoners were granted scholarships. This project took place in the states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh where students are being given financial support, course material and other facilities to support their education.

Public participation in the form of books, copies, school bags, pens, educational equipment and money donations are accepted by the Trust. If anyone desires to adopt one school going child who lacks resources to educate him/herself and yet is competent for education, he/she has to donate Indian Rupees Rs 501 for one year by Cheque, D.D. or in Cash. (These donations are exempted under the income tax section 80-G).

Instead of holy coconuts, garlands, flowers, sweets and any other gifts, P.P. Sri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj prefers one to participate in his mission by giving him education related materials like old books, school uniforms etc. These donations are used to implement scholarship schemes in various states of India. Students are helped according to their needs. This Scheme has been implemented in states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. This Scholarship benefit is also provided to the hard of hearing and the ones who cannot speak.

Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj has taken a solemn oath to provide 11.000 poor children with education every year through public contribution. 151.000 Students will be granted scholarships during the year 2008/09.

SURYODAY GYANDEEP GURUKUL
“MOVING AHEAD FOR ENLIGHTMENT THROUGH EDUCATION”

Due to poverty one part of the society is living in huts and slum areas. This condition prevents part of the population from having basic essentials needs of life. Poverty does not allow them to get their fundamental constitutional right of education. Also it leads to the problem of child labor.

They cannot get a respectable position in society. These poor and deprived children should also get equal rights of education and become part of the mainstream society. Under the guidance of Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj the Trust has established Gyandeep Gurukul schools in the vicinity of slum areas so that children can have the opportunity to access free education. Children should get good ethical education so that they can be developed into responsible citizens of this era.
The meaning of education is not only to gain bookish knowledge. A person who has grown up only by reading books cannot be called a scholar. Where there is intellect, spirituality in body, speech and mind, that is knowledge of all kinds, only such a person is a learned one. This is the type of knowledge obtained in our Rishi Parampara (Saint Tradition). In the ancient Gurukul system, children not only studied the Vedas but also learnt farming, sports activities and spiritual meditation. They performed practical goals with as much clarity as they did with educational knowledge. Today times have changed so we are moving towards such an educational system where there is only bookish knowledge. There is no room for any other type of knowledge. When we ponder over it we find that such a generation cannot find itself freely developed. At the same time we must remember another fact that such education and practical knowledge must reach out to the children residing in the slum areas. So that they don’t grow up merely to be labourers but are able to gain their rightful share in the society. This should be our unanimous objective, work and resolution.

Suryoday Gyandeep schools have been established where the branches of the trust are functioning. In the cities of Dewas and Sujalpur of Madhya Pradesh Khamgaon and Varangaon, cities of Maharashtra. In these schools poor students obtain not only free education but also practical knowledge.

Along with academic knowledge there is a need for cultural, spiritual knowledge, Yoga, meditation, sports. Only when a student receives training in these aspects we can see his development as complete and balanced. The main purpose of the school is to develop the spirit of nationality, co-operation, self-discipline, leadership qualities, self-confidence and patriotism. Here we will introduce the ancient vedic Gurukul tradition of education blended with modern international education standards to make them think creatively, to mould them into versatile citizens. More than 400 students have benefited from the Gyandeep Gurukul Schools.

SURYODAY SANSKAR AND KALA EVAM KRIDA PRABODHINI
“MOVING AHEAD FOR ENLIGHTMENT THROUGH EDUCATION”

Society consists of youth, children and the aged having enough potential and talents to contribute to general welfare. According to P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj if we plant good thoughts and culture in their minds we can build an enlightened and cultured society.

Children will become responsible citizens in the future, youth will direct their energy in a positive direction and the elderly will contribute their rich experience to society.  This is what Suryoday Sanskar scheme aims to accomplish.
India has a rich culture of arts, which the whole world adores. We are also world leaders in various sports, yoga and meditation. Being a young nation it is possible to retain this leadership in the field of Arts and Sports.

There are a lot of talented youth in this field who do not get the opportunity to show their talent. In order to explore new talents in Arts and Sports and to develop mental and physical fitness of the children and youth of our country, camps are organized in various parts of the states to impart training to the youth, by experts in various fields free of cost.

P.P. Shri Bhaiyyu Ji Maharaj believes that the roots of a cultured and enlightened society are to be found in the sanskar of children. This happens if good thoughts are planted in the minds of the young.

To make good future citizens, it is necessary to teach good moral principles to the youth and also develop positive mental thinking in them. This is done by imparting education, culture, social feelings, spirituality and Dhyan Sadhana (meditation) to them, which in turn develops nationalism.

The Suryoday Sanskar Abhijan aims to achieve this through Sanskar Saptah a specially designed seven-day crash course for children, youth and elders. The core syllabus of this course is focused on religion, social development, national development and human development. Children will learn to become responsible citizens, and the youth will direct their energy in a positive direction.

This programme has been initiated in order to introduce the public with various Indian arts and also to enhance the physical and mental health of children in the sports field. Under this programme two camps have been organized successfully in Narkhed and Katol.  Eight camps have been organized successfully in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The Suryoday Kala and Krida Prabodhini has started a gym to revive Indian sports and martial arts at Warangaon. Children and youth are encouraged to participate in sports and martial arts for their integrated development. Under this scheme 1.000 children have benefited and so far 8 camps have been conducted in Narkhera and Katola.
